M.S.B. Somms & Vineyards Essència Red Wine with Partial Aging

Perfumed and light-bodied red wine. Essència is a light wine with a very low alcohol content that embodies finesse, elegance and an explosion of red fresh cut fruits that stand out over a background of aromatic spices and all, led by the characteristic freshness of this outstanding grape variety.

Essència is a red wine elaborated in the Designation of Origin Conca de Barberà with the young President of the Designation, but at the same time experienced and passionate winemaker Bernat Andreu, producing a total of 1198 bottles.

This wine  is made out of the red grape variety “Trepat”, known for its elegant, feminine and subtle characteristics. It comes from 30 years old vines from the Vineyard “Finca La Sort d’en Martí” and from 60 to 90 years old vines planted in the vineyards “Finca Les Alzinetes, Finca La Butxaca & Finca Les Parades”, adding these last ones a touch of complexity to the wine without renouncing to it’s electric youth.

After a hand-picked selected harvest and the following controlled alcoholic fermentation, the wine will be leaved from the 30 year old single vineyard resting for approximately six months in 1000 litres Inox tanks while the wine coming from the other 3 vineyards with ages ranging from 60 to 90 year old are aged in french oak barrels for six months before finally blending it and bottling it.

Essència is perfume, a light-bodied red and the most feminine treasure in the M.S.B. Somms & Vineyards collection. It is a light wine with a very low alcohol content that embodies finesse, elegance and an explosion of red fresh recently cut fruits that stand out over a background of an aromatic bouquet of spices and all, led by the characteristic freshness of this outstanding grape variety.
